Continuing on my week of Valentine’s Day inspiration (only one week left!), I thought I would pull together some date ideas across the board for the hopeless romantics. I included dates that you can do anywhere you are in the world, but being based in DC, had to give a few shout outs to some great date spots in the city! Whether you are last minute planning, or looking to make reservations, there’s something in here for you. Take these ideas and make the night specially fit just for you two. Happy almost Valentine’s Day to all you love birds out there!
1. Getaway for the night
Book a hotel or Airbnb for the night! Whether it’s in your local town, big city nearby, or traveling somewhere new, change things up a bit and pack an overnight bag for a night on the town. Throw in a dinner reservation at the hotel’s restaurant and you’re good to go. (Bonus if they have a hot tub)
2. Stroll around The Wharf in DC
A relatively new hot spot in DC is the riverfront at The Wharf. It’s full of restaurants and shops and provides the perfect atmosphere for a date night. Get cozy by the bonfire pit at the end of the pier or enjoy the swings along the walk. See what concerts are happening at The Anthemas as well! I highly recommend a stop at Dolcezzafor a dulce de leche… its soo so good.
3. Second First Date
Second first dates are great for Valentine’s Day! Recreate your first date by going to the same restaurant or date spot. Other additions to this are going to the spot where you had your first kiss together or where you first met. Take a walk down memory lane and relive the memories that brought the two of you together.
4. Special Dinner Date
This one may seem obvious, but nonetheless is a classic. You may love to go to your favorite mom and pop restaurant down the road, but maybe mix things up a bit. Have a classy night, get dressed up, and make reservations for an upscale dinner. La Vie restaurant in DC is a great option for this, but as you know, you can’t go wrong with any restaurant in DC.

5. Night in Georgetown
Walk the waterfront, take a shopping trip, and enjoy the views of the adorable historical homes. You will feel like you’re in a movie! Georgetown is a great spot for a date night in DC. Just don’t leave until you get a cupcake at Baked in Wired – I know Georgetown Cupcakes always has a line, but I personally love Baked and wired 10x better.
6. Wine Bar Crawl
Besides hearts and flowers, wine might just be the mascot for Valentine’s Day. Do a little trip around the town or visit a local vineyard, and get those feelings tingling with a wine bar crawl or wine tastings. Just be safe and don’t forget to call an Uber. 😉 Flight Wine Bar is a must in DC!
7. Dancing!
Take a dance class or visit a studio with a night of open floor dancing. It could be ballroom or swing dancing, but take it back to good old days of real dancing, besides the club. It makes for the best laughs and great memories.
8. Spa Day
If you both have busy schedules and want to rest for a bit, take it easy with a day at the spa. Book a couple’s massage and relax in the hot tub or pool to just enjoy each other’s company.
9. Take a Class Together
This could be anything from a cooking class, to hot yoga, to painting, to rock climbing. The possibilities are endless! Explore something the two of you have never done before. You never know, it might just become your newest hobby together or your new favorite date spot.
10. Keep it Simple
After a long day of work, keeping it simple might just be the greatest way to spend Valentine’s Day. Cook a dinner at home, or order take out. Rent a few movies and cuddle up on the couch for a sweet relaxed night in. It’s a classic date, and never really gets old.
No matter how you spend your Valentine’s Day, I hope you spend it with the ones you love most. Cherish the moments whether they’re big or small. Make memories and enjoy each other’s company. Happy Valentine’s everyone!
