This Georgetown engagement session in Washington D.C. was so, so special. I actually knew Caleb before from when I was a marketing intern for Commonwealth Joe the summer after my freshman year of college. Caleb is a talented videographer (check out his work HERE!) and was doing a bunch of videos for the company, so we got to know each other better and better each time I was on set with him. When I received an inquiry in my inbox from Krista just two weeks after they got engaged, I was so stoked to work with them! Caleb isn’t the only one pursuing his passion, as his fiance Krista is too. She runs a fitness website called Sweat Smarter and reviews tons of fitness classes in the area – definitely check her out! The next time I’m back in DC for a while, I’m making it a goal to workout with her 😉
Krista and Caleb told me all about their love story during our engagement shoot. From Krista’s perspective: “We meet at Freefest at Merriweather Post Pavilion in 2013. Nas was performing and I was hanging out with a bunch of my girlfriends…when I saw this super cute guy with a HUGE beard back in the crowd and stared at him until he came and talked to me 🙂 We hit it off immediately and spent the rest of the day together. He called (!!) me the next day to say that it was nice to meet me and we stayed in touch. He was living in Newport News, VA at the time and I just happened to be down there a few weeks later and we were able to reconnect. The rest is pretty much history — we were long distance for 2.5 years until he moved up here about 2.5 years ago! He proposed after we had been out to a very romantic dinner and night out in our neighborhood. I was kind of bummed that nothing came of the very romantic night but right before I could put my pajamas on when we got home, he proposed!”
The two are going to get married at The Line Hotel in Washington DC this year, which I’m SO excited for because it’s brand new and only opened a few months ago! Their wedding will be one of the earliest weddings there! How cool is that?! It’s also beautiful with lots of gold touches, natural light, interesting textures, and greenery.
We had a great time at their engagement session outside of DC in Georgetown. We started by the waterfront, stopped at a coffeeshop, went down the canal, and took a stroll through the neighborhoods. I love when couples include something personal about their relationship in their engagement session, which is exactly what these two did. When they first started dating, Caleb used to make film adventure videos with Krista as his muse as they explored new places. Caleb brought his old film camera and took some shots of Krista!
I’m so excited for their wedding day, and couldn’t love these two more.
