One of my favorite parts about getting to know my couples is hearing their proposal story. And friends, theirs is a good one. To start from the beginning, Heidi is a cancer survivor. When she was 17 she went through 6 months of chemotherapy to cure her cancer and then started school at James Madison University the same day she finished treatments. During her junior and senior year of college, she served as the Executive Director for the Relay For Life at JMU, the signature fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. During her senior year, Micah proposed in front of their friends, families, and everyone they loved at the event. When Heidi was telling me about it she said that “it was magical,” and that “Micah couldn’t have done it on a more perfect day.” Is that not the cutest?!? I popped into the event for a little that night, but didn’t get to see it since I had to leave after a little to drive to a wedding the next morning. But I so wish I had!!
Micah and Heidi also met in such an adorable way. One of their mutual friends invited them to spend Fourth of July with him and his family in Long Island, NY. They ended up getting to know each other really well over the trip, seeing as they stayed on their friend’s sleeping boat for 2 nights. On the second night, Micah and Heidi stayed up the whole night talking and watching the stars. There was even a spontaneous meteor shower, which they still can’t figure out why or how it happened because even NASA didn’t know it was taking place. Isn’t that magical?? The two of them stayed friends for a few months, but started dating once they returned back to school in the fall.
I know I throw this word around a lot, but I loved loved loved hanging out with Heidi and Micah during their engagement session. They were up for every idea, excited, and so kind. I’m insanely excited to photograph their wedding and get to know these amazing humans even more. These two are seriously such stand-out people, and I feel so lucky to have met them.
SO obsessed with this ring shot below!! Heidi’s ring also has so much character. It was designed after a medieval caste and is made of gold from the 1800s.
The two of them bought these bunnies together last winter!
LOVE this one below.
