This past weekend, I headed to Richmond for a fun and romantic summer engagement session at Maymont Mansion! Olivia and Rob moved here from Korea when they were young teenagers. After moving to the same area, they got involved in their church music group. Rob plays the drums and Olivia plays the violin. After getting to know each other practice after practice, they eventually started dating. Rob proposed on New Years Eve, and now they are getting married this fall!
Working with Rob and Olivia was beyond amazing. Besides being an incredibly sweet duo, I loved getting a glimpse into the dynamics of their relationship. This, perhaps, is one of my favorite parts of working with couples. Having a close up glance into so many peoples most important relationships in life is so unique and specific to photography. Seeing how Olivia and Rob teased each other and balanced each other out throughout the shoot made me love my job a little more. One of my favorite parts of the shoot was when we were shooting next to a tree, and all of a sudden Olivia burst out in a shriek and began hand fanning and head dodging the air around them exclaiming “Oh my gosh! There’s a huge bug!!” Rob calmly and sweetly responded with “that was just a gnat” and hugged her a little tighter. It was such a relatable moment that I couldn’t stop smiling.
I can’t wait to work with these two again this fall! Enjoy some pictures from our shoot 🙂
