These are the kind of people that make me fall back in love with photography over and over again. The kind of clients that turn into friends like “that” after only meeting them once. The kind that you’re going to get together with outside of taking photos. The kind that you give huge hugs goodbye and say “ love ya” after. Ask me to talk about them, and you’ll see how I light up and am at a complete loss of words…and then get really loud and excited and talk waaayyy too fast trying to depict how wonderful they are. These people. Oh man. They are some of, if not the most supportive clients (now friends) I’ve had the privilege of photographing. Literally the moment I walked into my home after their shoot I exclaimed a big “AHHH I love these people. Best, best night” to anyone that would listen to me.  Their love for each other truly radiates like nothing I’ve ever seen, and I am so, SO honored to be able to witness it! These two also have the most amazing, admirable love story. Get this: 

Paris and Jeremy met in France on a one week student exchange trip. At the time, Paris was a sophomore attending Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology, a public magnet high school with the highest ranking in Virginia, while Jeremy was at an intense preparatory boarding school for engineering. On Monday, Paris’ exchange student was taking a test, so she told Paris to join some other Americans that were watching some French students in a Physics lab, which is where Jeremy happened to be working on an experiment. As the American student’s in Paris’ group filed into the room, a congregation of girls surrounded Jeremy since his table was half empty due to his absent lab partner. One of the American girls started to talk to Jeremy, but he managed relay that he couldn’t understand and wasn’t very good at English…which is where Paris comes in! The girl brought Paris over, since she spoke the best French in the whole group, and she began to translate for them until class was over. Eventually, the class ended and the rest of the Americans in her group went home, but since Paris’ exchange student was still taking the test, Jeremy showed her around the school and where he was staying. At this point, Paris knew she wanted to get to know Jeremy more, so before they parted she asked Jeremy if she could use his phone to get in touch with her exchange student since her phone was “dead” (even though it was not), which meant that she would have his number and be able to get in touch with him again. That evening, they texted all night, which led to lunch the next day, and a pivotal first date on Wednesday. From that point on, they were “together” for the rest of that one week trip…one week. 

And that one week turned into two sweet years. After the trip they began skyping every weekend for hours and hours, falling more and more in love as time went on. They worked and saved up money, dollar by dollar, so that they could visit each other every few months, even if it was just for a little bit. Even though their schedules were slam packed with school work. Can you imagine that?? Not to mention opposite TIME zones. Throughout the day they would keep each other updated on messenger and snapchat, capturing what they were doing through snapchat while the other was sleeping so that they could wake up and be updated. For example, during Paris’ senior shoot with me, she asked me to be in a few snaps so that Jeremy could see them when he woke up.

Now, two years later, they are living in an apartment together in the upper side of France…how adorable is that?? Paris took a gap year this year, while Jeremy continues his last year of intense studies. And I mean intense. As in I’m never complaining about school again. He attends class at 8 am and comes back home at 7 pm with only a 1 hour lunch break in between, and has a multiple hour long exam EVERY SINGLE Saturday. All of this is in preparation for a TWO WEEK, all-day test on all types of advanced subjects ranging from physics to calculus to chemistry, etc. On top of that, he has to go through multiple interviews where he’ll be berated with questions. Not anything like “what are your passions in life? What motivates you?” More like “Solve this really hard physics problem as fast as you can as I stare down and watch your every move.” Man, props to you Jeremy. The will power you have…Next year, Paris will be moving to England to attend friekin CAMBRIDGE, and the two of them will be back to long distance…but two hours is a whole lot better than 10 plus a $1,000 plane ticket!!

I could seriously write so much more about these two…but this blog post is long enough, haha. Here are some images we created together at our shoot a few days ago. They even treated me to an expensive French restaurant after, sighhh. Hopefully, I’ll be able to visit them in France this summer and we can do another shoot…how amazing would that be?!?
