Alicia and Kevin’s engagement session began at Bartholdi Park in Washington, D.C.. I had been wanting to shoot at the beautiful fountain there for a while, so I was stoked when Alicia and Kevin were down for it. The fountain wasn’t running when we showed up, but the park was still charming and gave us some iconic DC views for the background. This was a great first location for our DC engagement session since it is also right next to other great locations like the Capitol, Library of Congress, and U.S. Supreme Court.
Our next stop was the Library of Congress. This is one of my favorite spots to shoot at in the district! It was the perfect spot to match Alicia’s formal and bold outfit change. We weren’t there for long before it began raining, but Alicia and Kevin totally embraced it! We’re always down to reschedule clients when bad weather hits, but there’s a special kind of romance that rain brings to a session.
The sun was setting quickly, the rain was getting harder, and we had pretty much wrapped up at the Library of Congress. Last minute we decided to shoot a few quick pictures at the Capitol, and I’m so glad we did. The reflecting water on the walkway made for some beautiful rainy engagement portraits by the end of the night.
We’re obsessed with Alicia and Kevin’s authentic and timeless engagement pictures. We can’t want to capture their wedding day at the St. Regis in D.C. this year.
